School Photographs

Individual & Sibling Portraits

The school photographer will be taking individual and sibling portraits of the children on Wednesday 20th November.  May we remind you that the children will need to be in full school uniform that day with their school jumper or cardigan.

In order to ensure we have an up to date picture on file, all children will be photographed.  The proof will be sent home for you to view but there is no obligation to purchase a school photograph.  We do find however, that with Christmas approaching, many parents like to purchase them as gifts for other family members, such as grandparents.

If you have more than one child in school, they will be photographed individually and together.  Unfortunately, at this time, pre-school children cannot be included but there will be an opportunity for family photographs next year.

If you do not want your child photographed, please inform the office in writing.

Rotary International Shoebox Appeal for Disadvantaged Children in Montenegro, Albania, Moldova and Romania (email sent 8th October 2019)

The Shoebox Appeal enables caring individuals, families, schools, churches, businesses, and other organisations to fill ordinary shoe boxes with small toys, school supplies, and other gifts for needy children around the world. The shoebox appeal sends a message of hope to children in need around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes.

This is an appeal that Nightingale Primary School feels strongly about and we encourage everyone to take part, no matter how small or large the donation. Therefore we are writing to ask whether you would like to make a small contribution towards a shoe box.  We would like to be able to send two boxes per class (one boy and one girl).  There are a wide range of contents that you can donate and these are outlined in the table below:

Above all, the contents should be of good quality, remembering that the recipient will be opening the box in eager anticipation and especially with the toys for the children, quite possibly the first real gifts they have received for a very long time.

All items must be new or in ‘as new’ condition.

We are asking that if you would like to donate an item(s) please send them into school with your child. A shoebox will be placed in each classroom where the donations can be left.

Please do not wrap them (due to customs procedures) but can you please indicate which age group and gender you would like the item to go in (if you have a preference).

The children will be writing Christmas cards, letters and possibly including a photo to go in each of their class boxes.

If anybody has any spare shoeboxes at home, we would welcome these. Please note boxes larger than 33cmx20cmx15cm cannot be accepted. If you have any Christmas wrapping paper please send this in too so we may wrap the boxes once they have been filled.

Please can all donations be brought into school by Friday 25th October, giving us time to organise the boxes before collection. The boxes will then be collected by the Rotary Club on Monday 4th November, just after half term.

Thank you in anticipation of your support.

Yours sincerely
