We successfully welcomed back our Year 6 pupils this morning. What a pleasure it was to see them so keen to return to this new normal and for me to meet more of you. Your children have been at the heart of all our plans and we are all excited to support them once again in what is, despite these different ways of working, an enjoyable learning environment.
I realise that many of you will be feeling frustrated that your child’s year group is not yet eligible to return to school. We urge you to keep in contact and continue to access home learning via ClassDojo or our school website. For those children who have returned to school and have been completing their home learning, we have noticed their readiness to access learning. It has made a positive difference to their ability to access their new class’ learning and tune into school routines! Thank you to all of you that have been making the most of the hard copy home learning packs located outside our office. If you haven’t already, do feel free to collect your child’s weekly year group pack. Year 2, 3, 4 and 5 - we miss you all, hope that you are all well and look forward to your return to school, whenever that may be.
I wanted to take the time to thank all our parents for sticking to the measures we have needed to put in place to ensure your children are kept safe and enjoy their time in school. Our staggered starts and finishes continue to work extremely well and allow for lots of space across our school grounds. Parents have been leaving our site promptly and keeping communication with our staff team to a minimum which helps us all feel safe.
The small groups, also known to the children as ‘bubbles’, allow for spacing and continue to be a hit with the children. They have everything they need on hand and whilst they are at a distance to their friends, they still have the opportunity to talk and discuss their learning and activities with each other.
We continue to welcome children from eligible groups back as family circumstances change. However, we have to consider each case carefully and on an individual basis before we can welcome them back. New requests will need to be made directly to our office.
Please note, on Friday afternoons the school will need to be closed for deep cleaning. You will need to collect your child/children in staggered waves from 12:45pm. Finish times for each group were in my letter dated 26th May.
Please remember that our office is closed to visitors unless this has been previously arranged with me, the Headteacher, Mrs Beckett. Any urgent conversations should take place by telephone or email via the office.
Thank you for the many kind messages of support we have received. Enjoy the cooler weather if you can, and stay safe.
Yours sincerely and with best wishes,
Mrs Hannah Beckett
