It has been wonderful to welcome back so many children today from the eligible groups. It has been particularly special for me as I stood on the gate to say a warm good morning to so many smiling faces, looking smart in their school uniforms and who were looking forward to seeing their teachers and friends again.
Our staggered starts and finishes worked extremely well. Limiting the amount of people we have on site and using each group’s designated entrance and exit has allowed for social distancing. Thank you for sticking to your allotted times and promptly leaving our school site. We look forward to welcoming our Year 6s back on Wednesday.
The new layouts to our classrooms are proving to be a hit with the children. The spacing of our desks and each child’s resource pack means that the children have everything they need at hand and we can manage the movement within our groups.
In preparation for our opening we have been working hard to implement all of the Governments guidelines, whilst doing our best to meet the requirements of our families. Late last week, after our Google form had closed, we emerged into a position whereby the requests for provision for the children of key workers and vulnerable group exceeded the capacity we had available to maintain the control measures required to keep children, staff and their families safe. Any additional requests for children to attend school will be looked at on an individual basis, so we can plan accordingly. This week, I will be looking at opening an additional group to allow for this. If you feel your child is eligible to attend school, then please make a request if you haven’t already by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. We will do our very best to meet your needs.
Please note, on Friday afternoons the school will need to be closed for deep cleaning. You will need to collect your child/children in staggered waves from 12:45pm. Finish times for each group were in my letter dated 25th May.
A polite reminder to parents that our office is closed to visitors unless this has been previously arranged with me, the Headteacher, Mrs Beckett. Any urgent conversations should take place by telephone or email via the office.
As we are following the Government guidelines to ensure the safety of everyone at school, the children do not need to bring in their own PPE such as facemasks.
For our Year 2s, Year 3s, Year 4s and Year 5s (those children who are not eligible to attend), we hope that they continue to access home learning via ClassDojo and our school website, with paper copies available outside our school office for collection if needed. This will continue in the same format with a member of our teaching staff allocated to give your child feedback via ClassDojo This home learning may not be supported by videos from the teachers. We miss you all, hope that you are all well and look forward to your return to school whenever that may be.
Yours sincerely and with best wishes,
Mrs Hannah Beckett
