Summer Term 2
The final term for Year 6 at Nightingale Primary School is set to be an exciting and busy one! We are starting the term with our whole school project of 'Take One Picture' where children will learn about tsunamis and will recreate the picture in Indian ink.
Following this project, we will concentrate on fairground rides. The children will be researching different rides and investigating how they work. They will then design their own and make it using their DT skills. The children will also investigate jingles and how they are used as an advert. The children will complete their project by taking part in a Dragon's Den scenario where they will need to present their product and persuade the dragons to invest in it.
As well as this project, the children will be participating in a workshop run by the school nurse team which will help the children learn about the importance of staying healthy. They will also be working on some transition work for their secondary schools and reflecting on their time at Nightingale. The children are also going to be busy rehearsing their Year 5 and 6 production which this year is 'Shakespeare Rocks!'
At the end of the term, Year 6 parents will be invited in for the Year 6 leaver's assembly on the last day of term.
Important Days of the Week
This term, we have PE on a Tuesday afternoon during AAA. We will also be swimming on a Monday afternoon (Osprey) and a Wednesday afternoon (Peregrine) so please ensure that kits are in school. We visit the library every day after lunch so we can change our books. Homework will be a project for the half term thinking about the children's time at primary school.
