Welcome back to a busy and fun term in Year 5!
We will be starting the term with our whole school 'Take One Picture' project.
After this project, we will be focusing on Ancient Greece as our topic.
During this topic we will have a large focus on Greek myths and in particular will focus on Perseus and Medusa which will lead us into writing our own myth. We will also use research about the Ancient Greek way of life to write information texts.
We will be focusing on Greek pottery in our DT this term and all pupils will be participating in a workshop where they will make their own Greek pot. We are also hoping that we will have a Greek Day later on in the term, where the children will be able to dress up like a Greek (more information and date coming soon.)
In maths, we will continue to consolidate the methods taught this year and will use these in investigations and to solve real life problems. We will also be focusing on multiplying fractions and shape this term, including different types of angles.
Towards the end of the term, we will be performing our Year 5/6 production of 'Shakespeare Rocks!'
Things to remember
Homework goes out weekly and the children will have spellings, Literacy and Maths. It goes out on a Thursday and is due in on a Tuesday. We go to the library on a Monday afternoon so make sure you have your books in school to change. Our PE is on a Tuesday afternoon during AAA so make sure full PE kits are in for this time. We will be starting swimming this term, which will take place on a Wednesday, so ensure kits are in for this time.
