Fundraising and Grants

At Nightingale Primary School we are always looking for new ways to help raise additional funds for the school. We have a fantastic PTA, Friends of Nightingale, who organise events and activities to help raise funds.

Ernest Cook Trust

We apply for grants every year to try and raise additional income for new projects at school that will benefit the children. We were recently awarded £2500 from the Ernest Cook Trust towards our school allotment "Nightingale Kitchen Garden". This will be used to purchase much needed equipment to help us set up the new learning area for the children.

Big Lottery Fund

Thank you to the Big Lottery Fund who gave Nightingale Primary School just over £6000 for replacement of part of their fence in the woodland. The old fence didn't allow for privacy and security whilst the children were in the woodland area. Following the Big Lottery Grant the children are now able to use the area which is also a lot quieter. The fence purchased was an acoustic fence and has helped to reduce the noise from the busy road alongside the woodland area. The children have had a fantastic time using the area, learning about minibeasts and building dens.

Tesco Bags of Help

We also applied for a grant from Tesco for the allotment area and we are delighted to confirm that we have been awarded £10,000 to use towards the allotment area which we hope to start building after the Easter break. We will be purchasing a fantastic large poly-tunnel which  will be used as an all year outdoor classroom area.

We will also be using the funds to provide all weather surfacing to make the outdoor allotment area accessible all year round and provide tables and seating in the area for the children to work at.

Thank you to everyone who voted for us and full details of the allotment and its development can be found on the Kitchen Garden page.
